Being a late 80's baby, I've always wished that my raps could embody that 90s boom bap era. I always thought that emcees from NYC were the coolest people ever. They're unwavering confidence, the aggression embedded in their accents, and their overall persona was something I was envious of. Today I have a lot of dope lyrical friends from the big apple that I'm happy to call peers, but I'm still slightly jealous of 'em. Crimdella aka BlackZeusX is one of those guys and he just put out a new vid for his track, "The Logo."
Both the beat and the camaraderie of the opening scenes puts you in a good mood. It's crazy vibey right up to when Crimdella intros on the first verse. Donned in his African garb, ZeusX diddy-bops through the lyrics with such ease and cool. He comes back around to keep it real in the 2nd verse, proverbially handing you his shoes and asking you to take a walk in them. The flow matches the instrumental so well, as well as the cooled out chorus from Monotone. It's got that feel-good chill that's both fresh and familiar. Props to the homie, check the visuals out.
Amazing combo of 90s era rap and modern style. Loving this. Second verse especially. "Kiss my ass with a hashtag" - PERFECT.
